St. Gabriel Consolidated School is a Title I building with services provided through Princeton City School District. Princeton provides teachers who provide reading support for students in kindergarten through grade five for multiple public school districts with whom they have an agreement and/or partnership. Students qualify for Title I reading services through I-Ready Diagnostic scores in September, as well as subject grades in reading and English language arts, and teacher recommendations based upon classroom observations. Teachers use the first I-Ready Diagnostic of the school year to determine students who may be one, two, or more grade levels behind in reading. Students who are two or more grade levels behind in reading are the first students to be selected for Title I services if they live in a district served by Princeton City School District. Students that are selected typically fall in the bottom 25% of the class in their reading skills. Title I services are meant to provide small group instruction so that students can close their achievement gaps with their peers.
